RANCHASSIST™ WINTER FEED PLANNER
PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: August 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the RanchAssist™ Winter Feed Planner handles information when you use the standalone planning tool. It should be read together with any broader RanchAssist.com privacy disclosures that apply to the website or service through which the tool is provided.
1. PURPOSE OF THE TOOL
Winter Feed Planner helps users organize herd information, winter dates, hay assumptions, supplements, mineral, inventory, supplier lead times, scenarios, schedules, and estimated seasonal purchasing.
2. NO REQUIRED ACCOUNT FOR THE STANDALONE TOOL
The current standalone Winter Feed Planner does not require a RanchAssist user account to create a plan.
3. SESSION-FIRST PROJECT DATA
Project information you enter into the planner is designed to remain in the active browser session. The application may use browser sessionStorage to protect active work from accidental refresh or same-session navigation.
sessionStorage is not presented as permanent cloud storage and is not intended to preserve a project indefinitely after the browser session ends.
The planner does not use localStorage as the standard method for permanent project persistence.
4. RANCHASSIST PROJECT FILES (.RA)
If you choose Save Project, the planner creates a user-controlled .ra RanchAssist Project File for download to your device. The file may contain the editable project state needed to resume your work, including herd groups, winter period, hay assumptions, supplements, inventory, supplier lead times, scenarios, schedule settings, notes, project metadata, and related editable settings.
The .ra file is stored where your browser or device saves it. Saving a .ra file does not mean RanchAssist has created a cloud backup of the project.
If you choose Open Project, the selected .ra file is read by the application so the project can be validated and restored. The standard project-file workflow is designed to process this project state on the client side.
5. PROJECT IDENTIFIERS
A saved project includes a project UUID and project metadata such as project name, tool identifier, format version, tool version, creation time, and update time. The project UUID identifies the project lineage and is not intended to identify the user.
6. EMAIL SHARING
If you use Email Plan in the Google Apps Script deployment, you provide a recipient email address and the application sends a plan summary to a server-side Google Apps Script function that uses MailApp to send the message.
The current Winter Feed Planner backend is designed not to store the full project state on the server as part of this email-sharing operation. The email function receives the destination address, subject, and text summary required to send the message.
Email delivery may involve Google services and the recipient's email provider, each of which may process message metadata and content under their own terms and privacy practices.
7. EXPORTS
When you export or print information, the resulting file or document is controlled by you and your device. Export formats may include CSV, PDF created through the browser print workflow, and printed reports or schedules.
Copy Summary places a text summary into your clipboard when supported by the browser.
8. INFORMATION THE TOOL MAY PROCESS
Depending on how you use the planner, project data may include:
- Project name.
- Livestock classes, head counts, and average weights.
- Winter feeding dates and reserve assumptions.
- Hay type, bale weight, dry-matter assumptions, waste assumptions, price, and inventory.
- Supplement and mineral names, feeding rates, frequency, package size, package cost, and inventory.
- Supplier lead-time assumptions.
- User-created scenarios and notes.
- Calculated requirements, costs, schedules, shortages, surpluses, and reorder milestones.
- Email address entered for a specific sharing action.
9. INFORMATION THE TOOL IS NOT DESIGNED TO REQUEST
The standalone planner is not designed to request passwords, financial-account credentials, veterinary records, government identifiers, API keys, or developer credentials as part of normal use.
Do not place private credentials or other unnecessary sensitive information into project names, notes, or custom feed-item fields.
10. CLEAR SESSION
Clear Session removes the current active project state used by the planner in that browser session. It does not delete .ra files, CSV files, PDFs, printed documents, email messages, or other files already saved or sent outside the active session.
11. SECURITY
RanchAssist is designed to keep application credentials separate from user project data. .ra project files are data files and should not contain executable code or private application secrets. Imported files are expected to be validated before project state is restored.
No method of electronic storage, browser processing, transmission, or email delivery can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
12. THIRD-PARTY AND PLATFORM SERVICES
The tool may be delivered using Google Apps Script and may rely on browser, operating-system, file-download, printing, clipboard, and email functionality provided by third parties. Those providers may process technical information according to their own policies.
13. CHILDREN
Winter Feed Planner is a ranch operations planning utility and is not directed to children.
14. DATA RETENTION
The standalone project model is designed around the current browser session and user-controlled files. RanchAssist does not represent active sessionStorage as permanent project retention.
Information included in an email message or saved/exported file may remain with the sender, recipient, device, browser download location, email provider, or other service according to that party's own retention practices.
15. YOUR CHOICES
You can:
- Avoid entering optional information.
- Clear the active session.
- Choose whether to save a .ra file.
- Choose whether to export, print, copy, or email a plan.
- Delete locally saved project/export files using your device controls.
16. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the Winter Feed Planner or RanchAssist architecture changes. The effective date should be updated when material revisions are published.
